There is not much purpose to this game and yet it still manages to hold my attention for hours on end.
Alpha Earth home with original textures. |
It's a temporary replacement for Sims, at least for the time being. Ah, Sims...how I miss it so!
Don't be fooled by the over pixelated graphics, and the simple sounds. It starts off in the middle of nowhere. There may be a few trees, or a vast ocean, or nothing more than a long plane, but you must find some way to survive, yet you are given nothing. Not even the knowledge on how to craft a defense against the terrors of the night. Yup. Terrors. The night is no place to be unless you are safely tucked away in a homemade bed made from 3 pieces of wood and 3 pieces of sheep's wool, only then, will you survive the night. However, there is one other way to stay alive. You can craft weapons! Weee! Finally, unless you lack the necessary items....damn, of which I do about half of the time!
When it comes to this simple-but-not game you can easily lose hours building your vision. It starts off with a house made from pushed up dirt, at this point you've learned how to use your hands, and from then on you never start building, exploring, and mining! I mean, the whole point of the game is to mine for diamonds and to pursue the Ender Dragon...but I'm far too busy building "Gummiopolis" by now! he he
The bonus part of this game is the mods, and there are some really good ones that I picked up from "Planet Minecraft". The texture pack I'm using in the pictures is by "CubCon".
In my opinion, without a texture pack, Minecraft is actually quite painful to look at since I am so used to high graphic games.
Apart from textures, the "mobs", a.k.a other life forms in the game, are kind of cute, that is except for the ones that are trying to kill you!! O.o
So, all in all, if you are looking for a simple and time consuming game to play then I recommend Minecraft. If you like simulation games, I recommend Minecraft. If you like legos, then I recommend Minecraft, but be prepared to spend way too much time in the game!
How the world looks from way up high (from my balcony). Worlds are randomly generated. |
